Diane Susan Parsons (Duggan)

October 24, 1955 - April 26, 2022

Obituary

It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved Mom, Sister, Aunt and Friend, Diane Susan Parsons. Diane remains with us in spirit but is now together with her late husband Russ, to whom she was married for 40 years. Diane will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by sons Ryan and Brad, siblings Ray (Andrew), Bob (Mary Jo), Mary (Bruno), Jim (Tracey), the Parsons (Russ) family, and many extended family and lifelong friends.  Diane was last employed at Douglas College for 10 years, before retiring in 2012 and moving to Summerland, BC.  Residing in the Okanagan lent well to Mom’s favourite activities, such as travelling, festivals, farmer’s markets, volunteering, wine tastings, walking, swimming, biking, reading, singing, and socializing. She was excited for the future and had plans to travel abroad and remodel her condo that she just moved into.  Diane was deeply spiritual and has a close relationship with the Catholic Church, where she was well liked and was very supportive of all the church activities. She will be remembered as having a good sense of humour, big smile, a beautiful radiant twinkle in her eyes, as well as a deep caring for all of her family and friends. A prayer service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 6:00 pm, at The Church Of The Holy Child Catholic Church, 14010 Rosedale Avenue Summerland, BC. A funeral mass will follow, Saturday, May 28, 2022, at The Church Of The Holy Child at 11:00 am.

For those unable to attend the Funeral Mass, please go to the ‘Live Service’ tab to join in.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Diane since I was 7 years old, she was one of my sisters (Renate)’s best friend. The last time I saw Diane was in 2017 when she attended my sons funeral. I will remember her as always being happy, I almost never saw her without a smile. She will be truly missed by all her friends. Although she is the lucky one, now reunited with her family and friends in spirit. ( She is home again)

I’m so sorry to hear of Diane’s passing. My thoughts & prayers to Brad, Ryan , family & all those affected by her loss. Diane was my Aunt. She was always so kind, caring, thoughtful & I very much enjoyed chatting with her when we met at family events. I will miss you Auntie Diane, love from Ken, Nevan & Kegan

From: Alicia Bigland
Relation: I knew Diane from our church and the community choir.

It is with sadness that I send my condolences to Diane’s family. Diane was always at Mass singing every hymn with such enthusiasm. She had a powerful singing voice which always brought joy to hear her sing. I look across at the empty pew where she always sat and can place her visually back there at Holy Child Catholic Church. She is greatly missed.

From: Debra Saunders
Relation: Best Friend

I am so grateful for having a special friendship with Diane. I met her when I moved to Vancouver and soon we were to find each other as lifelong friends. Diane and I moved into our first apartment together, and just had sooo much fun as roommates. We both got engaged and then married in the same year of each other. Diane and I shared many things including our wedding dress which was an honor. We went onto our lives of marriage and raising a family, and she did come out with her young sons to visit me when we lived in Alberta and will always remember that. When I moved back to BC we were able to connect again and share times together as families and we were able to get to know each others children. My family eventually moved to the Okanagan, and Russ and Diane would come out to visit from time to time and fell in love with it. They finally made the move upon retirement and chose Summerland as their home. Over the last few years we were able get together for all the family events including the marriage of our children. dinners, walking, concerts, coffee, wine events and so much more. I was blessed to be with Diane when her beloved Russ passed away and help her with the process as much as I could. Diane and I were friends for over 50 years and she will never be forgotten, and I think of you always and treasure every memory we had together. Thank you thank you thank you for choosing me to be your best friend my sweet Diane… God Bless you always until we meet again….Love from Deb, Marty and Family
