Donna was born in Wadena, Saskatchewan to Leonard and Bada Haglof. She went to school in nearby Wynyard. In winter, she and her seven siblings travelled to school by sleigh huddled under a tarpaulin. Dolly the horse knew her way to school and back even in the snow. Donna later moved to Princeton, Vancouver and Langley where she completed her schooling.
Not long after that Donna met Edward McDermott, the “Yin to her Yang”. Most recently they lived in White Rock and finally Keremeos where Ed passed away in 1993.
Donna was a long-time community volunteer; as a “Snowy Owl” in her daughter’s Brownie troop, with Meals on Wheels, the Bluebird Box program, the Emergency Preparedness program and Keremeos Thrift Shop. In later years she reconnected happily with a long-time Princeton friend, Jack Powell who became her “partner in crime” (Lol). Together they notoriously won their fair share of local crib tournament pots.
Donna was a good wife, mother, friend and pet owner. She generously donated regularly to many worthy charities.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Larry), grandchildren Alexis (David) and Victor (Madison), great grandchildren Leo and Stella, and various family pets Axel, Sgt. Pepper, Ollie, Harriet and NongMan.

No public memorial will be held. Donations in Donna’s name are welcome to a charity of your choice.
