Obituary

Mathew Douglas Murray of Penticton, BC passed away suddenly on October 22, 2024 at the age of 33 years old. Mathew was born in Williams Lake, BC. His parents Shelley Elizabeth Murray and Keith Devane Johnston. He attended school at Central Elementary in Trail, BC, Wiltse Elementary, Skaha Lake Middle School and Princess Margaret Secondary School of Penticton, BC.  Mathew loved music, poetry and animals. He loved playing video games, pokemon and pokemon go, board games and chess. He had a passion for geology (stones and crystals) and like to read someone’s fortunes with tarot cards. He was passionate in his beliefs and loved sharing about them to friends and family. He was great with kids and loved reading. Mathew also loved butter chicken.  Mathew is survived by his Father – Keith Johnston, Sister – Courtney Johnston (Kris Mattson) Children; Mason Johnston, Gracelyn Mattson and Rowyn Mattson. Brother – Seth Murray (Colleen Sajna) Child; Zen Murray – Whitmore. As well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and grandmother.
Mathew was predeceased by his Mother- Shelley Murray, Grandfather – Herb Murray and Grandmother – Carol Murray, Grandfather – Larry Power and Grandfather Clyde Johnston.
A visitation Family and Friends are invited to pay their respects between 11am and 12pm on November 4, 2024 at Kettle Valley Memorial, 101- 1873 Main Street, Penticton, BC. Memorial Service will be held at 11am Monday November 18th, 2024 at Kettle Valley Memorial, 101- 1873 Main Street, Penticton, BC. with Karen Hansen officiating.
 
Interment/Inurnment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery, 775 Lower Bench Road, Penticton, BC. Donations flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish, memorial donations may be made to https://gofund.me/0abe05b3 (Trina Murray) & The Mental health Association

Dear Mathew
Iam sorry I am not there in person today for your celebration but Iam in spirit .
Growing up I was not able to see you often but my fondest memory with you was sitting on Grandpa’s deck on we were all smiling and laughing. I hope today you are once again smiling and with your mom, grandma and grandpa and great grandma Hannah. I won’t say goodbye today only I will see and laugh with you again one day
